Indian Capital market scenario has changed very fast over the past decade or so. It has emerged as a major source of finance for the corporate sector. A healthy and vibrant capital market is therefore, an imperative for a stable economy. It was for this basic reason that price determining mechanism of Indian capital market was selected as the subject of this study. Undoubtedly, this study would considerably help the merchant bankers in pricing the issues and would also overcome various problems associated with unfair pricing mechanism such as heavy over-subscription of issues, origination of grey market, blocking up of large quantum of fund etc. Thus, it would help in the economic growth by smoothening the circulation of money and channelisation of adequate quantity of funds towards desired sectors.
