The book presents a systematic analysis regarding the age-old chronic problem of labour absenteeism in the textile industry in State of Maharashtra. The textile industry has different organizational set-up such as private composite units. Government composite units, co-operative spinning mills, private spinning mills and decentralized sector of power looms. The problem of absenteeism of textile workers in the above heterogeneous set-up has its implications. It needs academic exposure which is helpful for policy makers and executives in the field of textile industry. Accordingly, an effort is made to delineate the conceptual framework of nature, quantum, pattern and incidence of absenteeism. The socio-economic, personal, Psychological, perception level factors of absenteeism have bee analysed with the help of the stratified sampling method of field work survey in the different organizational set-up of the textile units in Solapur. The Management and controlling of absenteeism was also studied even at operational level. It is our finding that councelling is one of the best strategies for both Management and controlling of absenteeism.
