With every increasing population especially in developing countries, the adverse impact on forest, land resources, water resources, energy resources, and mineral resources is obvious. Today, the pollution level has reached a point where flora and fauna are threatened for existence. Under the circumstance, it is essential to integrate Environmental Protection with development and hence there is urgent and pressing need to educate Engineers to this end. Because of this reason, a subject entitled 'Environmental Science' has been introduced in core programme in Engineering Education leading to B.Tech/B.E. degree. It is expected that engineering graduates, who will shoulder the responsibilities of development tomorrow, should also be fully aware of environmental protection.
The present book covers the following topics: Introduction to Environmental Sciences; Environment and Development; Water Pollution-Sources, Standards and Control; Air Pollution-Sources, Standards and Control; Noise Pollution-Sources, Standards and Control; Socio-economic and Socio-cultural Aspects of Environmental Degradation; Planned Industrial Development; Environmental Impact Assessment; Renewable Energy Sources; Conservation of Energy; Environmental Management; Engineering Ethics; Energy and Environment; Environmental Protection Through Recycling etc.
Certainly, this will prove an authoritative source book.
