Basically, geomorphology is the branch of geology that is concerned with the structure, origin, and development of the topographical features of the earth’s crust.

Nutrition regulates the physical and mental efficiency of a human being. It is well known that without proper nourishment one can not sustain his/ her life in proper condition.

The present study is based on the findings of empirical study of a sample selected from the different geo-economic environments of Kumaun Himalaya. The author has attempted to assess the geo-economic environment, pattern of environmental sanitation, hygiene, dietary, food consumption and nutrition status of particular sample households and villages. Nutrition status has also been computed as per economic level of the society. Several useful suggestions have been given for nutrition and health and nutrition in relation to geo-economic environment is a significant contribution in the field of applied Geography. It would be extremely useful for geographers, sociologists, economist, environmentalists, medical practitioners and regional planners.

The fascinating Uttarakhand Himalaya has always been a matter of curiosity for saints, philosophers, tourists, filmmakers, mountaineers etc. However, the problem and hardships of this region and women in particular have hardly been a subject of constant interest.
The Uttarakhand had 49.10% (4163161) women of its population. More important is the factor that women in this region contribute major share in family’s income and livelihood. Their participation is found in almost all fields of the rural occupations. As a result the women in Uttarakhand and overburdened with the work load, which leads them to work since early hours of morning till late night. Not having been supplemented with adequate nutritious suffer from chronic energy deficiency. Malnutrition, pre- and post-delivery problems.
The present book is an effort to find out the problems of women health in Uttarakhand. This work is based on the empirical survey and first hand information. For that purpose the Uttarakhand Himalaya has been comprehensively surveyed.
The book begins with an introduction of the Demography of Indian Himalaya which includes urban-rural population, density, sex-ratio, literacy etc. It moves forward in geo-physical, economic, cultural, food habits, nutritional and environmental aspects of the region with investigating the problem through sample surveys.
The study concludes with the measures and suggestions for the improvement of the women status in the region. Since the present work deals with the burning aspects of social setup in Uttarakhand, therefore, it is hoped that this book would be useful for geographers, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, students and for everyone, who has a little concern for the Uttarakhand Himalaya.
