Subhash Chandra Bose's role in our freedom struggle is remarkable in many ways. He was the restless spirit. He always endeavoured for immediate Swaraj for our country and his anti- Rah stance had nightmarish effect on the mind of British bureaucracy. After his differences with the leadership of the Indian National Congress, he founded the Congress Democratic Party, the Forward Bloc and the Indian National Army. The role of the INA is most significant in the annals of history.

The theme depicts a romantic saga of a great Indian patriot who suffered in jails so that India might be free from the Colonial rule. It is a useful study of the most controversial period of our struggle for freedom. The period of Second World War has also been highlighted.

Abdul Ghaffar Khan, commonly known as the Frontier Gandhi, played a most conspicuous role in the freedom movement of our sub-continent. A true Gandhian as he was organised the Khudai Khidmatgars in his province and generated the spirit of non-violence among millions of his followers. His life was of complete dedication and sacrifice having deep linkage with the anti-Raj stance. He suffered in jails for several years along with the Pathan satyagrahis.

The work deals with his political career and the long-drawn struggle for a few decades in which he fought for the basic rights of his people. His struggle continued till the last day of his life. Indeed he was the most respected leader in the twentieth century.

B.R. Ambedkar's contribution in the upliftment of the economically weaker sections of our society is most significant. Born in a middle class family, he gained superb knowledge of economics and constitutional law. He was a leader of the depressed classes and always fought for their basic economic, social and political privileges. He participated in framing the Constitution of our country. He was a reputed leader and has awarded Bharat Ratan posthumously.

The work deals with his career including his ardent efforts for the upliftment of the Harijans. Indeed this was the monumental work in his direction mainly on account of his dedication for it.

Lal Bahadur Shastri occupied an unique and respectable position in the annals of our history. Born in a middle class family, he rose to the position of the Prime Minister of India seen after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. In fact Nehru liked him very mush on account of his simplicity, honesty, integrity and organizing capability. He was a true Gandhian, participated in the freedom struggle and suffered in jails.

The work deals with his political career, socio-economic ideology and welfare schemes for the weaker sections having deep linkage with his identity for causes touching upon the day-to-day life of a common man.
