Rammanohar Lohia's role in freedom struggle is unique and most conspicuous. Born in a middle class family, he joined the freedom struggle after his education abroad where he was greatly influenced by the socialistic trends then emerging as a world-wide phenomenon. He joined the Socialist forum along with Jayaprakash Narayan, Acharya Narendra Dev, Patwardhan and several others at a fairly young age. He was a fine speaker and an eminent scholar.

The theme deals with his political philosophy, socio-economic ideology and his rich contribution for revolutionary trends in the planning of Indian economy along with a new industrial policy which had a deep bearing on the economic life of the labour class.

V.V. Giri, a prominent Congressman played a dominant role in the freedom movement of our sub-continent. He had been trade union leader and always supported their demands having deep linkage with their welfare. Through his speeches, writings and mass contact programmes he fought for their welfare schemes and greatly succeeded in his mission. As a minister in Tamil Nadu and as the President of India, he showed his superb administrative capability.

The work deals with his long political career, deep devotion and suffering for the achievement of independence and his vision for several schemes of development having bearing on the socio-economic life on the masses of our subcontinent.

In the long -drawn political struggle for complete independence from the colonial rule the role of B.C. Pal is unique in the annals of our history. He was a dedicated true patriotic who offered his services to the nation at a fairly young age. He suffered in jails along with millions of satyagrahis and thus showed his remarkable sense of discipline, dedication and patriotic fervour. The trio- Lal, Bal and Pal- became a legend.
