ROLE OF CASTE IN INDIAN ADMINISTRATION
PROF. S.N. SINGH
The book deals with the role of caste in the administrative process and the decision making in particular. We are given to understand that Indian administration bases itself on the value neutral premise. However, over the years the socio-political system has witnessed an increasing role of caste, which subsequently extended itself to the field of administration. The book thus, makes an attempt to overview the caste as a variable in the governing process. There are seven chapters, which cover various areas connected with the theme. The prologue provides the analysis of caste and its expanded canvas. The second chapter deals with the profile of the Universe and the respondents. In the following chapter the concept of governance, decision making and its value-frame are analysed. The fourth one s devoted to the question of good governance, the concept and the context. Caste as a variable in the governing process is examined in the fifth chapter, while its impact analysis is presented in the sixth. In the end the conclusions are provided in the seventh chapter. The book is primarily an attempt to have an objective look into the role of caste in the Indian administrative process vis-à-vis a value-neutral framework. It is argued that the caste has an important influence on the governing process which affects governance and decision making. It is hoped that the book will generate consciousness amongst the people who matter and should interest the common reader as well.

INTERNATIONAL ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF PEACE, SECURITY SOCIAL JUSTICE & HUMAN RIGHTS
P.C. SINHA K'CHERRY
This International Encyclopaedia of Peace, Security, Social Justice and Human Rights has been created with a clean vision that the inter-relationship between the enjoyment of human rights, the maintenance of peace and security and the achievement of social justice by realizing developing goals, is very close. On the one hand, gross violations of human rights and inequitable economic relations between developed and developing countries, while adversely affect international peace and security. It is only in the atmosphere of peace and security that everyone can understand ones rights and freedoms. As long as there is hunger, disease, or lack of opportunities to participate in the government of one's country, there can be neither lasting peace nor significant development and social justice. It has been recognized that the right to live in a peaceful and secure environment is fundamental to all human beings. Without them, the development of just, equitable and healthy society cannot exist. In totality, peace and security require the fulfillment of social justice, recognition of dignity and worth of human individuals and the equal rights of men and women of large and small nations. Clearly, Peace, Disarmament, Security, Social Justice and Human Rights are closely linked and represent some of the most important issues before the Global Community today. Methods are best provided in the texts presented in this Encyclopaedia.
